The Home Energy Efficiency Scheme (HEES)

Welsh AssemblyHEES works to make homes in Wales warmer, healthier, safer and more energy-efficient by providing support to vulnerable groups considered to be in, or at risk of, fuel poverty. The Scheme provides a package of heating and insulation improvements up to the value of £3,600 (or £5,000 where oil central heating is required). To qualify applicants must be in receipt of certain qualifying benefits or allowances.

•    Applicants over 80 do not need to be in receipt of any benefits to automatically qualify for HEES Plus.  Householders aged 60 or over, who own their home, may be eligible to claim the Partial Grant of up to £500 towards the cost of energy efficiency improvements, even if they are not in receipt of any benefits. A grant of up to £5,000 for those who require oil central heating is also available.
