Eaga Scotland celebrates a quarter of a century
Green support services company Eaga Scotland is celebrating 25 years of pioneering work in household energy efficiency solutions and renewable energy.
Operating across Scotland the company was formed by current Managing Director Bob Graham in 1984. Originally called Everwarm, it is based in Livingston and has around 250 staff.
Under Bob’s guidance Eaga Scotland has positioned itself at the heart of efforts to tackle climate change and promote social inclusion
In the past three years it has insulated more than 100,000 homes, cutting annual household carbon emissions by a million tonnes and helping households save hundreds of pounds on their annual heating bills. Over the same period Eaga Scotland has carried out some £20 million of Carbon Emission Reduction Target (CERT) spending by the key energy suppliers to help low income, priority households.
In recent years Eaga Scotland has broadened its core skills from traditional insulation and central heating to include external wall insulation methods and large scale renewable energy options such as solar. It was the first company anywhere in the UK to install renewable energy for social housing tenants.
In another innovative move to bring modern heating to areas outside the gas network, Eaga Scotland has developed an integrated solution to both install a localised gas supply and then fit energy efficient systems in households. The service is attracting considerable interest from local authorities looking to make improvements to their housing stock.
Bob Graham said: “We have come a long way in our first 25 years and are extremely well placed for further growth as the shift to green living gathers pace. As an environmental services provider we are also committed to helping Scotland become the hub of low and zero-carbon technology.
“The Scottish Climate Change Bill has set challenging targets to cut carbon emissions by 42% and produce 50% of electricity from renewable sources by 2020. As part of Eaga plc, which has more than 5,000 staff across the UK, we have the capacity to deliver solutions on a scale needed to hit these targets.
“At Eaga we are also passionate about social inclusion, which for us means making it possible for everyone to adopt low carbon lifestyles – regardless of ability pay.”
