Eaga appoints new Strategy Director

John SwinneyGreen support services and outsourcing specialist Eaga has today announced it has appointed John Swinney as Corporate Services and Strategy Director.

A former Chief Executive Officer at leading social housing management company Pinnacle PSG, John brings with him more than 35 years of experience in both the public and private sector.

He will report directly to Eaga’s Chief Executive Drew Johnson.

John’s appointment comes as Eaga’s outsourcing work with local authorities and social housing providers undergoes rapid growth.

The company already maintains and services around 190,000 heating systems in the social housing sector. Recently it has also established itself as a key partner in the delivery of large scale renewable energy solutions, including photovoltaic systems.

With more than 5,000 staff operating across a national network, Eaga visits up to 3,000 households every working day to improve the energy and thermal efficiency of their homes.

John said: “This is a hugely exciting time to be at Eaga, as the shift to low carbon living and the wider green agenda takes hold. Making our housing stock more energy efficient is crucial if we are to hit legally-binding carbon reduction targets set by Government. Local authorities and social housing providers will be on the front line in these efforts, and at Eaga we are ideally placed to offer solutions on the scale needed.

“The deployment of renewable technologies is of tremendous strategic importance, particularly with the planned introduction next year of incentives such as the Feed-in-Tariff. We believe that allowing households and organisations to sell surplus electricity will open new funding opportunities to combat environmental and social inclusion challenges. Social landlords, for example, can use it to finance the introduction of cleaner energy to their housing stock and at the same time help low income tenants share in the benefits of low carbon technology. I will spend much of my time at Eaga exploring these opportunities with partners.”

Drew Johnson commented: “John commands huge respect within the housing sector and we are delighted that he has joined us at Eaga. His experience, understanding of our markets and established contact networks will also be highly valuable to Eaga as we continue to expand and diversify.
